Capacity Building
Practical skill development that helps you become more independent over time β at your pace, on your terms, working toward your goals.
Understanding the support
What is Capacity Building?
"Building the skills today that create independence tomorrow."
Capacity Building through the NDIS is funded support that focuses on developing a participant's skills, confidence and independence β not just completing tasks for them, but helping them learn to do things for themselves over time.
Unlike Core Supports which help with day-to-day tasks, Capacity Building is an investment in a participant's future. The goal is to reduce reliance on paid support over time by genuinely growing skills and capabilities.
At Shyna Promise, we take a strengths-based approach β we start with what you can already do, celebrate every step forward, and work with you on the things you want to improve.

Understanding the
Codes on Your Invoice
Capacity Building supports are funded from your Capacity Building budget β specifically under Improved Daily Living. This is a separate budget to your Core Supports and is specifically allocated to build skills and independence.
Capacity Building funding cannot be used for everyday task assistance β it must be used for activities that genuinely build skills and work toward greater independence over time.

"My son has learned to catch the bus to his volunteer job on his own. A year ago that felt impossible. The work his support worker put into building that skill with him changed everything."
